I have worked as a commercial photographer all of my
adult life. My father started a photography studio in 1962. I grew up surrounded
by the activities involved in all aspects of the business side and the artistic
side of professional photography. Most of my time was spent processing film and
pretty soon I was printing B&W prints. my father also processed his own
color transparency film in 4x5 and 8x10. Kodak changed the chemistry and film to
E6 about the time I started learning what was refered to as E4 and it became
more efficient to let a large lab handle our processing. I began handling almost
all of the black & white and color printing. One thing all that printing
taught me then and is true even in the digital age today, is that if you do not
start with a good quality image, it is next to impossible to make a good quality
print! While I have always spent a lot of time and energy promoting the
commercial side of my photography, all of the wedding and event type work came
strictly from "word of mouth" referrals.
Enter my wife Robin....
Robin is very art oriented and loves
the atmosphere surrounding the wedding, people, and event type activities
addressed here. Her creativeness and vision brings ideas to the table that
enhance what would otherwise go unnoticed. We began discussing the possibility
of creating a business together. It is the perfect medium for us to achieve
something together that we both love and have interest in, while providing
answers to problems for people looking to record their special moments. Halos
and Wings Photography is born out of our desire to create something meaningful
to others as well as ourselves.
It can be a very frustrating experience
for someone trying to find a balance between cost and good photography. You will
often see reference to "packages" etc. from photographers information
about how they handle your needs. Sometimes it is simply the best way to
organize what clients want. I believe more often than not there is a lot of
wasted money having to buy prints you don't need rather than ordering exactly
what you want and nothing more. I don't force you to spend your money on
something you don't want in the first place. That is only a small part of what
separates us from the crowd. I often hear people mention how expensive
professional photography can be. I hope I always will hear that my clients feel
as though they got more than they paid for. Please let us know if there is
anything we can do for you.
Sincerely,
Dwight Howard
